Professional recognition
This course is accredited by BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, up to and including the 2019 intake for Partial CITP and Partial CEng (Further Learning). Re-accreditation is pending output of the recent accreditation visit. This programme currently partially meets the Breadth of Knowledge requirement towards registration as a Chartered IT Professional and partially meets the academic requirement towards Chartered Engineering status.

Our Computer Forensics and Cyber Security programme allows students to familiarise themselves with the most recent technologies, scientific innovations and best practice in protecting digital infrastructures, from enterprise networks to Internet of Things environments. Students are also trained on modern tools and methodologies for conducting digital forensics investigations, spanning the whole range from the collection of evidence to analysis and acting as expert witnesses.

This programme is suitable for both newcomers to computer security and computer forensics and practitioners who wish to further their skills. It covers practical skills for network security, penetration testing and digital forensics, as well as the theory and scientific basis that underpins everyday practice. It also ensures that students have a basic understanding of the legal and regulatory requirements and the standards pertaining to computer security.​

At the end of the programme, students are able to understand security threats across different business-critical systems and distributed digital environments. The programme also includes hands-on training in current forensic tools as used by the police. Students can therefore contribute quickly to the well-being of corporate IT and informational assets.

Through our short course centre, opportunity may also be provided to study for the following professional qualifications: Certified Ethical Hacker (EC-Council); EnCase Computer Forensics, Penetration Testing and Vulnerability Assessment. The availability of some courses is subject to satisfying constraints that may come into effect in the year of entry. In addition, some options are negotiable, indicating that a course selection will need to be approved prior to the student undertaking the requested option.
