Overview:

Claranet Cyber Security is a world class business unit within Claranet, designed to give customers access to market-leading information security services spanning; penetration testing, managed services, compliance and risk consulting and training.

Within the Consultancy and Managed Services Practices, there are a number of varied technical roles. Each department is managed by a Practice Lead and is divided into technical teams managed by Team Leaders.

The Security Business Unit has a sales team able to sell products and services from across the portfolio.

The Penetration Test Team deliver around 5000 days of security testing per year - a figure that is growing steadily.

Key responsibilities:
  • To support the delivery of security testing services
  • Claranet requires a Penetration Testing Administrator to work within the Consultancy Practice to support customers in deploying and configuring virtual environments used for remote testing
  • Setting up and deploying automated vulnerability scanning and assisting with the secure provision of reports to customers
Working within the Operations function, the Penetration Testing Administrator will play a key role in supporting security testing activities.

There will be scope for development of this role through the acquisition of pre-sales scoping capabilities through shadowing and mentoring.

Essential duties:
  • Responsible for the successful deployment of VMs in preparation for remote security testing
  • Assisting customers with deployment of remote testing solutions and validating access to target environment
  • Working with the Penetration Testing Team Leaders to help improve and maintain remote testing systems
  • Coordinating the distribution, return and updates of physical hardware (NUCs) used for remote testing
  • Configuring and deploying automated vulnerability scanning
  • Assisting with the secure provision of reports to customers
  • Providing day-to-day assistance to technical staff
  • Participating in projects to improve the delivery of security testing services
  • Helping to resolve issues affecting delivery of services
  • Working with solutions architects to develop pre-sales scoping capability
  • Assisting with portal tasks in the Cyber Essentials delivery process
  • Maximising effectiveness of the apprenticeship training by applying learning outcomes to the working environment
  • Seeking support and assistance for apprenticeship learning from appropriate Claranet staff
  • Managing on-the-job workloads in combination with apprenticeship learning requirements
  • Working effectively with PMO and technical staff to ensure that on-the-job work is covered during periods reserved for apprenticeship learning.

Entry requirements:

The entry requirements for this programme are as follows:
  • An A-Level in ICT
  • OR an International Baccalaureate at Level 3 in ICT
  • OR a Level 3 apprenticeship in a similar subject
  • OR a BTEC Extended Diploma in IT (180 credits)
You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.

Salary:

£20,000 per annum.

Working week:

37.5hrs.

Future prospects:

92% of QA Apprentices secure permanent employment after finishing their apprenticeship. Additionally, there may be opportunities to undertake further apprenticeship training as many of our programs offer on-going development tracks.

To be eligible for a Government funded apprenticeship you must have lived in the UK or European Economic Area (EEA) for the last 3 consecutive years.
