About the course
CompTIA Security+ is a global certification that validates the baseline skills you need to perform core security functions and pursue an IT security career. This course is eligible for ELCAS funding. Further details are available here.
This course will teach you the fundamental principles of installing and configuring cybersecurity controls and participating in incident response and risk mitigation. It covers topics in the following areas:
Threats, Attacks & Vulnerabilities
Detect various types of compromise and have an understanding of penetration testing and vulnerability scanning concepts
Technology & Tools
Install, configure, and deploy network components while assessing and troubleshooting issues to support organizational security
Architecture & Design
Implement secure network architecture concepts and systems design
Identity & Access Management
Install and configure identity and access services, as well as management controls
Implement and summarize risk management best practices and the business impact
Cryptography & PKI
Install and configure wireless security settings and implement public key infrastructure

In order to be eligible to take the associated exam, you are required to provide photo ID with a valid signature.
Ideally, you should have successfully completed the CompTIA Network+ course and have around 24 months' experience of networking support or IT administration.
