About the course

The Freedom of Information Act places a legal duty on public sector organisations to publish or release information on request. Organisations need to understand their legal duties, how to apply exemptions to the Act, and how Freedom of Information if done well can be a key way to engage with stakeholders.

You will learn:

  • the significance and spirit of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act;
  • how to develop and implement effective FOI systems and processes;
  • interpreting and applying exemptions to disclosure;
  • developing an effective publication scheme, and how useful that can be;
