SSCP certificates now available via online on-demand courses
Trainee IT professionals will soon be able to complete their Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP) certificate coursework online after two big names in cyber security training teamed up to offer on-demand courses.
This comes after (ISC)² - the non-profit membership association for IT security professionals - partnered with online course provider Coursera, which will allow access to cyber security training through its online education programme.
David Shearer, (ISC)² chief executive, said the development means those who previously wouldn’t have access to such training can now build their professional career and master the expertise employers need to tackle modern cyber security challenges.
“By offering multiple learning options for cyber security practitioners, (ISC)² is helping to meet the demand for skilled cyber security personnel,” he added.
Coursera offers fully interactive courses in high-demand fields like data science, computer science and business through partnerships with top universities and education institutions.
Jeff Maggioncalda, chief executive for the online training provider, added: “These days, learning valuable career skills doesn't need to happen in a classroom or an in-person training seminar.”
He noted that Coursera had experienced increasing demand for cyber security certifications and was excited about bringing the (ISC)² SSCP certificate to his company’s platform.
